VPI Catastrophe Bags Support Pets Impacted By Natural Disasters

When natural disasters occur, Americans show resiliency by banding together to help recover and rebuild devastated communities. Pets are a part of the fabric of those communities that are commonly not mentioned, although their lives can be severely impacted by the event. To provide support for these often overlooked animals, VPI recently launched a program for pets living in areas impacted by natural disasters.

Today, associates in VPI’s Brea, Calif., headquarters, assembled hundreds of VPI Catastrophe Bags, which will be shipped to Nationwide’s Disaster Unit in Texas to help pets affected by future natural disasters throughout the state. The bags, which contain enough Blue Buffalo pet food for three days, a collapsible water bowl, a leash, and a waste bag. Our hope is that these bags will help provide some small level of comfort knowing that their pet is taken care of in wake of a natural disaster.

Below are photos of VPI associates assembling the VPI Catastrophe Bags. For more information on preparing your pet for a natural disaster, including five natural disaster tips for pet owners, visit the VPI Pet HealthZone.
