The deities in the Greek pantheon famously toy with mortals (like cats do with anything on a coffee table). One pet family turned this dynamic around when they found the purr-fect pun for a divinely inspired wacky pet name.
When searching for a cool pet name for his new black cat, this member dug deep into history and mythology—and deep into the underworld! Purrsephone is named for Persephone, the wife of Hades and the Queen of the Underworld in Greek mythology. “She's a black cat, so we wanted a name that was both a deity of the underworld and a pun,” say Nationwide member Bryan A.
Unlike a goddess of the underworld, Purrsephone instead is climbing her way to the top of Mt. Olympus—one dresser and curio cabinet at a time. Bryan says, “She wants to climb on top of every surface in the home. The higher, the better.”
The gods and goddesses of Greek mythology are immortal and indestructible. However, for our earthly pets like Purrsephone, there’s pet insurance from Nationwide. “Because we want Purrrsephone to be safe and healthy, and us with piece of mind knowing insurance will be there when we need it.”
